I know everyone is either moved on to Christmas decorating or is busy prepping for Thanksgiving, but I wanted to get this post finished written and published before I started all things Christmas next week. I know some of you may have been waiting to see this post or just some updated pictures of rooms so here it is! I will just label each room and link to you any of the posts I have done previously on it and I think it will be pretty obvious which picture is the “before” and which is the “current” picture so I won’t label each one.
So welcome to our fixer upper house journey over a year later come see what we have gotten done, what we still have to work on, and see some of my plans of what I plan to tackle in the next year. You can go back and see all the before pictures of our house here, we got new flooring installed the day after we closed/moved in, and then hired out the painting the living room because of the high ceilings and my 37 week pregnant self wasn’t up to tackling it 😉
Here’s the view of the living room and high ceilings.
And here it is now! 🙂
Living room – this room has actually had 2 big changes in the last week which you’ll probably see some sneak peeks of in my Christmas posts and then I’ll do a detailed post on them in January. Things I still plan to tackle – do some kind of treatment to brick on fireplace, add built-ins in that nook in the corner, new couches, and possibly rearrange this room completely.
Sort of the entryway… I did paint the inside of the back door black to match the front door and love that change! I hope to tackle either building or finding a different piece of furniture for that wall – thinking more of a table or 2 shelf unit. And that closet to left needs some serious work with installing new shelving and organization.
The room through those french doors will be my office…
Not completely done or happy with decor in this space but it’s fine for now. My office has been painted but I have a lot of work to do in there still with sorting, organizing, purging and getting it all set up. So no pictures to share right now. That room is on the list to tackle in the next year.
View back to the front door. You can see where I painted it black in this post. You can see how all these spaces are so open to each other – living room, entry, kitchen, dining room – so changing them all to one paint color made them flow together much better. This main color is Wheat Bread by Behr – a very close match to SW Revere Pewter.
And now for the kitchen. I squeaked in this makeover right before our 1 year anniversary date of being in the house for a year and it has made a huge difference! You can see the post on painting the room here, and a whole detailed post on painting the cabinets here. Installing the same manufactured wood flooring (details on the wood in this post) to be continuous flooring throughout the living room space and into the kitchen made such a huge difference!
You can see lots more before and after pictures of the kitchen in this post.
I tackled this eat in area fairly quick – painting the walls and hanging curtains helped a lot.
And then finally tackling refinishing and painting/staining the kitchen table and chairs made another huge difference. You can see a detailed post on the table/chairs makeover in this post.
This is our master bedroom which I haven’t shared since I shared before pictures because we honestly just moved furniture in here, I hung a few things on the wall just to make it feel cozy and that’s it.
The master bedroom is the 2nd space I plan to tackle in January – it’s never been painted so new paint, curtains, some rearranging, and I’d like to build a headboard and possibly build or find a few other pieces as well.
This is the guest room/my nephews room when he stays with us and it was one of the first rooms I tackled so it was suitable for company. This is sort of stage 1 completion of it as I would like to come back to the room and add molding, and some other details but have rooms that I need to be tackled for the first time before I come back to tackle this one again.
You can see lots of details of this room – headboard and dresser redo, nightstand makeover, and the complete before/after pictures and details.
This hall/guest bathroom underwent pretty major changes… From pepto pink to
to a calming sea green with lots of farmhouse and stained wood touches.

This is our garage mudroom space and it’s the one room I worked on this summer amidst crazy schedules and keeping up with outside work.
This space is so much more functional now and pretty too!

This is the laundry room – after we moved in but this is the before + current picture. This is the first space I hope to tackle in January and have lots I plan to do in here! New flooring, trim on walls, cabinets, new paint and more.
We have a bonus room over the garage which has a closet so can be considered a bedroom… this is sort of a playroom/my niece’s bedroom when they stay with us. I have gradually worked on it over time and have a few more things to do and then I’ll do a big detailed post on it. But it’s turning out cute!
And just in case you missed the one year later of the exterior of the house you can find it here – here’s the before of the front of house.
And here’s the after! 🙂 So thankful this house is slowly changing into our home!
I am anxiously awaiting January to be here so I can start some big projects again once the holidays are over – I’ve been itching to paint something for a while. 😉 In the next year I hope to tackle our laundry room, master bedroom, master bathroom, office, make more progress in the backyard, hopefully do the next stage in the kitchen with new counters/sink, and hopefully build quite a few pieces so we’ll see if I can make all that happen.
So thankful for all of you as you read and follow along with my journey. Hope you have a a wonderful Thanksgiving!
