February + January recap

March 1, 2013

Happy 1st day of March!  Spring decorating is in FULL force around here starting today.  And I can’t wait until it is warm enough for spring projects.  Maybe the decorating inside will pass on a little hint to the weather outside.

I was putting together my February recap and realized I never did a January recap so this post will recap both month’s projects.

I started out January sharing a new wreath.  A white feather wreath perfect for winter but I am sure you will see it pop up other times too.

Then I put together my winter mantel with that wreath as the centerpiece.

I shared a recipe for Black Bean + corn salsa perfect for a superbowl party.

Homemade Black Bean and Corn Salsa

Then it was time to move on to decorating for Valentine’s Day.  I made an unusual painted stick wreath for winter/Valentine’s Day.

I shared my Home Goals for 2013 – check out what I plan to do make our home feel more HOME to us this year.

More Valentine fun – my Valentine mantel.

And a Valentine tablescape.

Last week was “laundry week” on the blog.

Many of you loved the recipe I posted for homemade laundry detergent.  Cheap and easy to make and it works  GREAT!

And the laundry method that has literally changed my life.

How I took made little change in the eat-in-kitchen that made big impact.

I have also been working through a house tour of our home.  Here are the rooms I have shared so far.  (Click through to each post to see before/after photos, things I love, things I plan to change, and projects I have done in each room.)

Well, I wasn’t feeling very productive at ALL for the first 2 months of the year to be gone already, but all these posts make me feel a little better!  Now to get to work to get much MORE done in the coming months.

Doing any spring decorating?  Itching to get outside and for warmer weather?

    Hi Christina,

You have accomplished so much already! Your house looks great. Yesterday riding down the elevator with some other women from the office, the talk was all about March 1 and how spring will be here soon, and how eager everyone is for it. Here in SE Wisconsin March 1 usually means we’ll have a blizzard or two alternating with flooding from melting snows, at least 3 people will have to be rescued after taking their snowmobiles out on this ice (DUH!) and we’ll have a couple of thunderstorms too, for good measure. The end of the month will either end with a foot of snow still on the ground, frozen solid, or a mucky mess. Sigh. But I feel it too, spring IS in the air, LOL! Last night I decided I’m going to put up different curtains in my bedroom and swap out comforters and go with something less dramatic than my red, black and white large floral print. Instead I’m reading your blog. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next for your home,

I noticed you changed the header on your blog for Spring, very pretty! I am anxious to decorate my house for Spring too. Right now I have it decorated for St. Patrick’s Day and as soon as that is over I will take out the Spring decor. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home and ideas with us 🙂

Howdy! I could have sworn I’ve been to this blog before but after reading through some of the post I realized it’s
new to me. Anyhow, I’m definitely delighted I found it and I’ll
be book-marking and checking back often!
