Do you set a fancy table for Christmas? I love to set a special table especially for holidays and hope by next Christmas will have a big farmhouse table in our dining room with enough seating for everyone! We will have a special table set for Christmas breakfast at home though with just our family.
I thought I’d share some last minute tips for setting a table using some things you probably already have on hand. Or if you are headed out to pick up some last minute gifts you could pick up a few things like the placecard holders to add to make your Christmas table special.
I picked up those greenery wreaths out of the Target dollar spot section and knew they would make great accents on a table or I could use them as an actual wreath too.
I also found these little placecard holder jars in the dollar spot and just fell in love with them – aren’t they so adorable! $3 for a pack of 2 I thought was a great price too – not sure where I could even find the jars for that cheap. They had ones with mini gingerbread houses in them too and I hope to find some of those on after-Christmas clearance and I’ll mix both kinds on a big table next year.
I guess I don’t have a Christmas table runner so that got added to the “to find on after-Christmas clearance list” too! So for now, I just folded a tablecloth for a makeshift table runner, but you could use a blanket or even a scarf as a table runner. Then I grabbed some lanterns (actually off my Christmas mantel) some red sweater wrapped candles from my stash (found at Walmart several years ago after Christmas), and 2 trees in tin buckets I actually just picked up on 66% Hobby Lobby Christmas clearance this week.
Centerpieces can be simple collections of items or one or three main items…. just use things you have! A strand of garland or some fresh greens with some candles or a lantern works too.
I love my Christmas dishes – they are the Winterberry line from Pfaltzgraff. I got pieces as gifts every year for 4-5 Christmases when we first got married from different family members until I had a decent sized collection. I love pulling them out every year to use throughout December and for Christmas breakfast and dinner.
Little Christmas touches in the kitchen make it seem so festive! You can see more of my Christmas coffee bar and hot cocoa station in this post.
I hope however your table is set or if it’s paper plates for the win (no judgment here, we do that sometimes too!) you have a blessed Christmas, eat too many Christmas treats , and enjoy making memories together around the table!
