Less than 50 days until Christmas! Which for all of us means there is quite a bit of shopping that will happen over the next few weeks. Do you like to shop in store or online? I do a bit of both! While I do enjoy being able to see the things I am buying in person, browse selections, and just enjoy the holiday décor in the store… I have to admit that the traffic, crowds, long lines, and driving from store to store can get frustrating! I am finding that I do more and more shopping online from the convenience of my couch (sometimes even in my pj’s!) I love to go Black Friday shopping – it is just a fun tradition for me! – but I also find that I buy a good bit online that weekend and even starting now until Christmas. It’s so fun to get a package delivered to your door too!
So today let’s talk about a store that you probably wouldn’t have thought about shopping online – Dollar General! Yes, you can shop online and save with Dollar General!
Dollar General is the closest store to our house so I find myself popping in there for a forgotten grocery item or even just to browse their seasonal items and home décor. You might remember the fun Christmas tablescape I did last year with products from Dollar General. We still use and love those mason jar mugs all throughout the year and I am looking forward to pulling back out some of the Christmas stuff soon!
But now I can shop online too and have things delivered straight to my door too. I find their prices very competitive if not cheaper than the grocery store and since you can use promo code SHOPDGONLINE (expires12/05) to get free shipping on orders over $25 – why not?
So I did a little virtual shopping trip and here’s some things I put in my cart.
With the holidays coming usually means you will be hosting guests at some point. You might need some extra pillows or need to replace some old ones. Dollar General has satin jumbo bed pillows for $6.00.
And you are going to want to stock up on batteries too for all those toys that are going to require them! How about just having this pack of 10 Energizer batteries for $7.95 shipped straight to your door?
And some Command hooks are a necessity too for hanging all those lights and wreaths.
Here’s a gift idea too – this jar candle is $6.00.
Or how about this train set or building set for a cousin, nephew, or kid that you need a gift for this Christmas?
And you have to have the necessities… you know like Dunkin coffee. Shipped straight to my door?? Yes, please!
Oh and this chevron top – looks so comfy yet dressy too! Perfect for wearing around the house or for a quick trip out to the store too.
I browse the home section every time I go in store. I have bought many bins, baskets, and storage containers from there over the last few years – in fact the large baskets I have under my coffee table filled with toys for my nieces and nephew are from Dollar General. But you can save yourself a trip and just pick up some home décor or storage items online too. Like this fun tote for only $4.00. They had several other colors too. You just can never have enough bins, baskets, and storage containers.
And they seem to have really good prices on curtain rods too. Like this one for $7.00.
And I love these gray curtains!
And I always stock up on basic white pillar candles this time of year too – I burn 8 of them in my fireplace and then in lanterns, and holders all throughout my house. $1.00 or less is my target price.
For ideas and sales alerts make sure to check out Dollar General on Facebook as well as follow DollarGeneral on Twitter. And don’t forget to use promo code SHOPDGONLINE to get free shipping on orders over $25 though 12/5.
What do you prefer- shopping online or shopping in store?

Dollar General is my new favorite store. I have found the best things down all summer and fall. I would much rather shop in the store. I love to go in and browse. Of course, I always come out with something that I didn’t know I needed!
