It’s Friday! Time for me to share my frugal finds from last week with you.
I didn’t do any thrift store shopping and even though I did stop by my parking lot yard sale, I left without buying anything. Which is sad but also good sometimes too – you know what I mean?? Too many projects on my plate right now, anyone??
BUT, my husband and I did escape for a short getaway to the mountains in Tennessee over Labor Day. Can I just share a big marriage success secret with you??? Take the time/money/whatever you need to do to go out of town and spend time away from LIFE with your spouse! Without the kids if possible but even with the kids – just get away from LIFE and enjoy being together. We do this 2-3 times a year and it is amazing for our marriage.
Ok, back my frugal finds… While we were in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area, I knew I wanted to hit up some of the same antique stores that we did back in February when we went with some friends of ours. And since my husband does enjoy browsing antique stores when we are on vacation, we had a fun day of it. And we BOTH came home with some fun finds. My friend, Molly, and I found some amazing deals at this one antique store in particular so that store was first on my list.
And the store didn’t disappoint once again! If you are even in Pigeon Forge, TN, you need to check out this store! Heartland Antiques right on the main road as you are driving into Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg from I-40.
Shelves of blue mason jars at fantastic prices – $6.00 and lower.
And check out this pile OUTSIDE! And there were tons more inside – $9.50 each. I would love to know where they find this huge supply of yellow Pepsi crates. In Atlanta, I rarely see Pepsi crates only Coca-Cola crates.
So here is what we came home with…
- a yellow Pepsi crate – $9.50
- 2 license tags (for a home office redo we are working on for my hubby) – $2.00 each
- an old Chevy hubcap – again for his home office redo – $3.00
And of course you KNOW I didn’t leave without adding a few more blue mason jars to my collection.
- one without the lid – $3.00
- large jar with zinc lid – $4.00
- small jar with lid – $6.00
- glass cap – $1.00 (needed this for a jar I had at home that I bought at a yard sale with no lid)
So much fun! And now we have these fun finds to remember our trip by as well. I have started doing that recently – trying to pick up something for our home on each trip whether it comes from an antique store or thrift store or wherever. Serves as a fun reminder of our trip and decorates our home too. 🙂

I love those cute jars. Maybe you could use them as candy containers for Halloween and just put some glass paint styles.

Wow! What great finds! Especially at an Antiques store. I can’t pass up old crates or blue mason jars, either!
