I am SOOOO excited to share my fall kitchen table with you! Sometimes decorating projects take forEVER…. and sometimes they just fall into place quickly and perfectly! My fall mantel has been one of those trial and much error projects, but this tablescape was one of those easy, came together perfectly in minutes projects – thank goodness!
Layla is having a fall table party tomorrow and I wanted to be ready to link up. So I threw together a fall/thanksgiving table on kitchen table and I am IN. LOVE!
I won’t be able to leave it like this since we use this table almost daily, BUT I will definitely be re-doing this table like this if I get to host a meal at Thanksgiving or this fall with guests.
And because this is “The FRUGAL Homemaker” – I want to share how I did this on a budget. MANY of the items that you see have been purchased over time – some last year, some this year, some on clearance and many from the extremely affordable Better Homes and Gardens line at Wal-mart.
You’ve seen that line, right? Wal-mart carries a line of Better Home and Gardens home things in comforters, dishes, décor, and more all the time. But for holidays and seasons they put out a special line and I LOVE their fall line. The fall dishes that you see were my only NEW purchase this year. I think they were $2-3 each and I bought 4. They have 4 different designs/words on them so you could buy all of the same design or 1 of each like I did. They also have beautiful platters in the same line as well.
I layered those plates on top of my everyday white dishes (from Princess House – my MIL was a consultant so I am blessed to have gotten much of their line as gifts or very cheap.) And the plates are on top of some rattan placemats bought on sale at IKEA a while back.
The glasses are even from Wal-mart! We use these every day and they are from the Libbey line – 4 glasses for less than $5.00.
The turkey salt/pepper shakers are from the BHG line too – purchased on clearance last year.
And the “Give Thanks” mercury glass candle holders were bought last year from the BHG line as well. I LOVED those last year on my Thanksgiving table. And I was able to find a second pack of 4 candleholders on clearance after Thanksgiving last year so now I have enough for this table and my dining room table to enjoy this year.
The napkins and napkin holders are from Kohl’s –I have had them for several years so I am sure I purchased them on clearance one year or with a really good coupon.
And the centerpiece!
This was a copycat of a centerpiece my MIL has used on her table for years (I think she got it at Garden Ridge 5+ years ago). I borrowed it one day for inspiration and made my own a few years back. You can find that tutorial here (excuse the poor pictures as I didn’t have a good camera and wasn’t blogging back then either.)
The tablecloth was actually a 25¢ yard sale find. It has a few stains but you usually can’t tell with a runner and things set on it. I need to look for a GOOD tablecloth on clearance. And the burlap runner is just a piece of burlap folded and laid down the center of the table.
The little white pumpkins are real and I purchased them in a bag of gourds and such at Wal-mart. And the acorns are real too! My nieces collected them for me last week while they were playing in the yard.
I love decorating my home and fall is one of my favorite seasons (although I really do enjoy all the seasons and the different décor and colors they can bring in my house.)
A simple fall table – created using things I use everyday, a few inexpensive items from the BHG line at Wal-mart that I can enjoy and add to each year, a DIY project, and some pieces of nature in the pumpkins and acorns.
Texture in the burlap and placemats, warm colors in the leaves and pumpkins, and candlelight… all make for a beautiful table.
Blessings to you and your family this fall! Enjoy all the season has to offer and reflect on the blessings that you enjoy!

I just came across your website and thought it was beautiful.
I would love to have some dishes just like yours, but searched WM and could not find them.
Could you possibly help me find some like those?
Thanks.
