I love decorating my table!  Some simple placemats and a centerpiece add so much to the room.

A lot of my placemats come from Kohl’s, for a couple reasons – they have a large, ever-changing selection of placemats, they put them on deep clearance after the season (sometimes as low as $1 each), and I always have coupons for Kohl’s! Smile

Here is my table set for fall right now.  (Placemats/napkins from Kohl’s, I made the pumpkin topiary last year.)

Here are some spring placemats (can’t remember where these came from?)

I use these placemats during spring/summer (placemats/napkins from Kohl’s, flower bunch from Dollar Tree)

Summer/4th of July table (placemats/napkins from Kohl’s)  The napkins have  a star sewed on them.

And I can display them with the star showing…

Or hidden if I wanted to use the napkins with non-patriotic placemats.

(the centerpiece was clearance at Joann’s, I think?)

Told you I use these candlesticks everywhere! Smile  Love using them as a centerpiece.  (Placemats/napkins from Kohl’s again!)

These placemats are reversible so you can get double use out of them. (Placemats from Ross)

I bought these this past summer and I really like them!  (from Kohl’s, of course!)

The napkins were a thrift store find – 50¢ each.

The only thing from Pottery Barn that I own – a set of 4 napkins from the Pottery Barn outlet.

I usually pair them up with these solid placemats.

You can even use a grouping of items as a centerpiece.

Most of these sets I have had for a few years.  I don’t buy them all at once.  Maybe 1 or 2 sets a year so my stash has grown over the years.

I just shop my house or my décor stash for centerpieces.  Most of these pieces, I use in different areas of the house throughout the year.

You can find placemats on clearance at department stores, at yard sales, at thrift stores, or even make your own.  I have gotten several sets of napkins for 50¢ each at Value Village recently.

I love changing my table décor throughout the year – how about you?

Comments

  1. Love your table decor! I love changing my table too. Sometimes when people give me leftover fabric I try to visualize it as a tablecloth….just made one a few weeks ago for fall and I love it.

I am wanting to make a table runner! 🙂 I actually already have the material, just need to carve out some time and clean off my sewing table and do it. 🙂

  2. Great post! I’ve been wanting to make some seasonal place mats but haven’t yet. You’ve inspired me to make some time to do it! 🙂

    • Christina says:

I have never made placemats but that is on my to-do list too! 🙂 You will have to let me know if you do and I will check them out. 🙂

  3. Great ideas! Also love all the ideas on frames and wreaths!

  4. I sadly don’t have a table decor – might be because I don’t have a table! I like your many selections. Do you only buy four placemats and napkins or do you tend to buy more than that??

I am not so good at decorating – I love seeing all that you do. I like the minimalistic look – simple, clean lines, etc.

    Keep on posting!!!

    • Christina says:

      Amy,

I used to have a small table that I only set with 2 place-settings so I would only buy 2 placemats. (So if you ever get a table for 2, let me know and I will send you my sets of 2 placemats. I have some really pretty ones but can’t find matches now. 🙁 Although I might just use them to make pillows too. )

But yes, I only buy 4 napkins or placemats. Unless I know I might use them in my dining room as well (which seats 6). I think I might have one set of 8 for Christmas, if I wanted to make my table as large as possible to set it for 8. We typically don’t eat ON the placemats so they stay almost-brand new looking.

  5. I don’t ever set the table with placemats or cloth napkins but I love the look so maybe I’ll give it a try!

    • It can be fun! 🙂 maybe find some fun ones that could be functional with kids too – your Goodwill might have some good ones! 🙂
