The Frugal Homemaker

Your guide to turning your house into a home... one DIY project and yard sale find at a time

Introducing… 31 days to decorate your home on a budget

September 30, 2011

31 days button

Nester (who writes at Nesting Place) invited all bloggers to join her in October to write a 31 days series.   She, along with other bloggers, have used the month of October in past years to write a series (one post each day) focusing on  31 days (or 31 ways) of Change.  Last year, bloggers wrote on subjects like 31 days to a Less Messy Nest, or 31 days to a Better Photo, or 31 days of Autumn Bliss! Smile

When I realized I was going to launch The Frugal Homemaker right before October began, I thought “I can join in the 31 days series too!”  I tossed around a few ideas but finally settled on this – “31 days to decorate your home on a budget.” Fits in with being a frugal homemaker, right?

So come back every day in October for …

31 days button

I have been busy snapping pictures and documenting things around my house and a few other locations, and I am really excited to share this with you!

What is your favorite budget-friendly decorating tip?

I’m so excited for this series! We’re moving to a new apartment TOMORROW and I’m more excited about decorating it than anything. Can’t wait to hear your tips!

Hmm.. to answer your question, my favorite budget friendly decorating tip for our home was printing out quotes and bible verses, framing them and hanging them right up alongside the family photos! 🙂

ahh fun! starting from scratch has it’s advantages – strive to only put things that you absolutely LOVE into your house. don’t settle for that cause it only cost “x”. I am working on cleaning out those cheap Walmart “we’ll make due with it for now” things now 🙂

I found this page through Pinterest <3 and i just wanted to leave a note to say how brilliant i found all of your tips and how much i enjoyed reading. I am really struggling at the moment trying to keep the house clean, organised and decorated nicely with two young children and a small budget. Your blog has given me so much inspiration and i feel really motivated to get myself into gear again and try harder to make it work. Thank you! 🙂

Hey! Great website/blog/ideas! Thanks for sharing! But how do I get rid of the vertical bar with the Pinterest and other social media tabs. It is in the way of me reading your blog. I’ve tried clicking on it, but it doesn’t go away.
