Don’t worry, a new post in 31 days to take the Stress out of Christmas will be up later today, but I wanted to let you know about a partnership here at The Frugal Homemaker that I am super excited about.
The internet. In 2014, it is pretty much become a necessity… like water and electricity. We pay our bills online, access all forms of communication whether business or person online, listen to music, watch movies, and even work online. 87% of people in the United States have internet in their homes. This blog is only made possible by the internet and let’s not even talk about how life would be different without Pinterest! Gone are the days of dial-up internet – our lives have gotten faster and it’s time for our internet and home entertainment to do the same.
I work from home – writing this blog, answering emails, browsing Pinterest for inspiration and much more all of which requires the internet and fast, reliable internet at that. But in the last few months our internet has been especially frustrating. In the evening my husband and I will both be online – me working, him browsing or doing some research and we turn on Netflix to watch a movie or catch up on an old TV show. Only to sit there as Netflix buffers and buffers and one or both of lose internet connection on our computer/tablet too. Soooo frustrating!! I also experience internet lag throughout the day while I am trying to work – making things like managing email and uploading photos difficult. It is past time for a change and for some faster, more reliable internet.
So I had been collecting those internet/cable flyers that come in the mail and started doing some research on what company we should switch to get the fastest internet and also to save money. When I happened to get an email asking if I wished to join the XFINITY X1 Team So Fast program – talk about the perfect timing! And I am excited about what I am going to be able to offer YOU as part of me being with this program (a $100 gift card each month wouldn’t hurt with that Christmas shopping, would it?) plus I get to share my first hand experience with XFINITY with you.
Many of you may have already have Comcast XFINITY for internet/cable/phone and know some the great features that they offer. Well XFINITY has launched a new program called X1 with something for everyone – whether you want to quickly get to your favorite TV shows and movies with the On Demand feature or take your shows on the go on your tablet, they have got tons of new functions to play with. And by bundling the coolest features of TV and the fastest internet speed available together, the new X1 platform can combine all your bills into one. Along with that they have a new character named Ty So Fast. Ty will be sharing tips on how to save time and energy on his new Facebook and Twitter pages and you can learn more about him here.
My install date is set up for later this week and can’t WAIT to actually have (hopefully much faster!) internet – hoping to increase my work productivity and find some more time to work on projects (like that master bedroom makeover) since I won’t be dealing with sluggish internet anymore. And explore all the great features of X1 entertainment along with finally getting a DVR – in perfect time for all those Christmas movies that are about to be on TV! I LOVE Christmas movies and now I won’t have to miss one!
Over the next few months I will be sharing my experience with XFINITY X1 program, telling you more about Ty So Fast, and offering you some great giveaways in the process (in perfect time to for Christmas shopping!)
Enter to win a $100 AmEx card using the rafflecopter widget below. Giveaway will close Friday, October 10th at midnight and winner will be posted here and notified by email.
I would love to know if you have XFINITY for internet/TV and some of the features you love! What’s the first thing I should watch on On Demand?
