I am excited to share my Patriotic Mantel with you today!
I always change things over from spring/Easter décor and go with a red, white and blue/Patriotic theme from mid-May/Memorial Day to July 4th. I love Patriotic/Americana things so this is my one chance to go all out!
This was last years Patriotic mantel.
So you can see I reused a lot of the same things just in different ways and added a few other things from around the house.
I did make/buy one new thing for this mantel – the bunting!
It was a simple, no-sew, 10 minute bunting that I will share the tutorial for tomorrow.
I reused my red chevron pillow cover from my Valentine mantel and then turned a star pillow backwards (it has a quilted design on the front) and put it in front. Love this cute display. Tutorial on how I make easy DIY envelope pillow covers here.
Stacked up some old Coke and Pepsi crates with a patriotic quilt on the other side of the hearth.
I used my 75¢ turquoise yard sale candlesticks and added a third yard sale candlestick.
I couldn’t get that bunting idea out of my head. I went back and forth between doing a USA banner or something like this, but Laine has posted several pictures with bunting in the background, and I found myself slowly falling in love!
So there is my summer mantel (part 1)! I usually will do a more neutral/summer/beachy themed mantel later in July to stay until it is time to decorate for fall.
I have more red, white and blue touches I would like to add before 4th of July gets here – a wreath maybe, and a tablescape? So keep an eye out of those.
Do you decorate for 4th of July/Memorial Day? Or what is your favorite color/theme to decorate with for summer?

I love it! I wish I could find the time to decorate for each season! I always love it when I do, but it doesn’t always happen.
