Since I was relaxing at the beach last week, I don’t have any frugal finds from yard sales or thrift stores to share with you. I did try to find some thrift stores on vacation, but the one we went into was WAY OVERPRICED! And I mean WAY overpriced. A large framed out of style print (would cost $12-15 at Goodwill- which I still think is high) were priced $60-80! And yes, there were multiple random framed pictures for those outrageous prices! They had a brass light fixture (you know the ones you can buy for less than $5 at Goodwill) exactly like this one that I spray painted and installed in my entryway. I paid $4.04 – their price – $30.
So needless to say, I didn’t buy anything. And if that is typical of thrift store prices at the beach, that may be the one and ONLY reason I wouldn’t like to live at the beach 🙂
But right next door there was an antique store which oddly enough had better prices for NICE stuff! I took some pictures of my favorite things to share with you.
I am looking for some inspiration for the chair I bought for $3 a while back. Loved the distressed details on this one.
And love the stencil on this burlap seat.
Neat idea for this old window. You could use this in your entryway to hang jackets and such. And could display pictures or even write messages on the window with a dry erase marker.
Some old framed stained glass windows.
Loved this HUGE mirror – it was seriously floor to ceiling.
And these old french doors were gorgeous!
A mod podged globe. And I liked the old chippy door made into a table.
Owl themes are so popular right now and this would be absolutely adorable in a little girls room or owl-themed nursery! And you could easily recreate the same idea on some pallet wood with a cute saying and picture of whatever theme you have in your kids room. LOVED this!
Aghhh… here is the 5 panel door I need! But we were in my husband’s small car and no way to get this 5+ hours home.
My husband really liked these huge old paper maps – these were literally wall-sized so not bad for $35 each.
A twist on a sunburst mirror. This one was made with sticks. An easy project to DIY!
And of course we were at the beach so there was some beach-themed stuff. Loved all these coral pieces. This HUGE white piece – $350. Sadly, it didn’t come home with me for some reason.
And this thing was really neat – it was some sort of nautical thing.
Two of these HUGE starfish came home with me and that was it.
Have you done any antique store browsing recently? I love to browse to get ideas and inspiration. Even though I might not buy anything, it gives me ideas for things I like and can maybe find later at a yard sale for much cheaper!
Looking forward to getting back to shopping yard sales on Saturday…
