The Frugal Homemaker

Your guide to turning your house into a home... one DIY project and yard sale find at a time

Friday Frugal Finds

June 22, 2012

I am at my second day of Haven conference today and absolutely LOVING it!  If you want to follow along, I am sharing photos/updates on my facebook page and tweeting even more short quotes and info from sessions on twitter too.  I am completely inspired, overwhelmed, and excited all at the same time!  Loving some girl time with Renee at Living, Laughing, and Loving and being able to talk “blog/DIY/decor talk” with people who completely understand me!

Now for my frugal finds from last week!  Last week was another big week.  My parking lot yard sale was HUGE!  I lost count at 48 different parking spaces/individual seller.  Crazy and I LOVE it!

In a few months, when I tell you I did a semi-major remodel of my kitchen with yard sale finds, don’t be shocked, ok?! Smile Because at this point that is just about what is going to happen!  Last week I showed you the set of corbels that I bought at the yard sale.  I bought them from a guy that was there selling TONS of cabinet pulls and handles, corbels, posts, etc.  He was closing his business and selling all of his leftover stock.  I REALLY wanted to buy some knobs and handles from him but I had no idea how many I needed?  He said he would back this Saturday so I made sure to not miss this week and find him with my list in hand!

He was selling all of his brand new handles for $1.00 each!  Yes, I know – a steal!  (I took these out of the plastic to take a picture but they come in plastic with the screws – brand new!)  I got enough to change out all the handles in our kitchen and our master bathroom too!  And I got 3 more corbels – just need 1 more!

Aren’t they so pretty!!  I love the ORB cup pulls!  These sell for $4-5 each at Home Depot!

I also found this large metal wire basket for $3.00.  With a quick coat of paint this is going to be great – can house magazines or guest towels or anything.    The glass canisters were 25¢ each.

Another game to add to our game closet – $2.00

And I stopped by and picked up my free quart of paint from Ace Hardware.  I chose Bird’s Egg Blue.  Now to find something to paint! Smile

And don’t forget – if you want to come thrift with me, I am hosting an “I love thrifting” event in my area on Saturday, July 7th!  Would love to have you come join me.  Get all the details here.

Did you find any fun finds this week?

Wow! Totally jealous of that hardware-especially those cup pulls! If I send you the money, can you pick some up for me? (jk…sort of 😉 )
And you really don’t expect to tell us about getting a free quart of paint from Ace without telling how and where you got it, do you? Lol 🙂 Paint always seems to be the biggest expense of any project I try to do (except fabric, I guess..) So please let us in on your secret! Don’t worry… I’m too far away from you to infringe on your supply 😉

It was great meeting you too, Christina! Wish we could have spent more time together, those two days went by way too fast but it’s so fun keeping up with your blog. Send me pictures, I would love to get them. Hope you’re having a great day!
