Since I was stranded at home last Saturday, I don’t have any yard sale finds to share for Friday Frugal Finds today. I did pop in Value Village and find some fun stuff though, but I think I will wait till next week to share that.
Because I am bursting at the seams to tell you about this! I am getting very excited and nervous at the same time.)
Two weeks from today, I will be experiencing a small dream of mine! And I still can’t believe it!
I will be at a really nice hotel in Atlanta at a blog conference called Haven conference. A blog conference created by home/ DIY bloggers specifically for bloggers wanting to focus on growing their blogs, learning from DIY instruction, and creating beauty in their home for less. Yep, that pretty much sums up me exactly!
But that is not even the best part . . . I will be surrounded by some of the big time DIY/home bloggers that I absolutely ADORE! And I read drool over their blogs daily!
People like these:
Rhoda from Southern Hospitality
John and Sherry from Young House Love
Traci from Beneath My Heart
Sarah from Thrifty Décor Chick
Kate from Centsational Girl
….and many more!
These bloggers write some of the very first Home/DIY/décor blogs that I started reading back in 2009 when I instantly fell in love with the whole Home/DIY blogging world. I blame my obsession and love of all things frugal and DIY on them!
So honestly, I think just being in the same room with them (and many more amazing bloggers!) pretty much fulfills a dream for me. BUT that’s not all – I will be there with 200+ other bloggers attending some amazing workshops like these:
- I love thrifting
- Beginning paint & stain
- Power tools with Ryobi
- Décor 101
- DIY your blog design
- Basic photography
- Design studio
- and many more!
So I have been busy preparing (and getting excited, then nervous, then excited, then nervous all over again ….)
I designed and printed some business cards…
Here’s the front:
And here’s the back:
I can’t wait to hand these out and collect lots of business cards from other bloggers!
And I have been trying on everything in my closet trying to find the “perfect outfit” to wear. It is actually a 2 day conference (Thursday and Friday with an opening party on Wednesday night) so I need 3 outfits! And you know I will sporting some of my yard sale jewelry!
And I am busy getting my guest room ready for company cause my friend Renee who blogs at Living, Laughing, and Loving is coming to stay with me and go to the conference too! Yay!! I am so glad to have a friend with me to help me conquer that room of people I don’t know. And it will be great to have someone to take my picture alongside my favorite bloggers and call my husband when I faint when I meet John and Sherry.
I am really excited (I know, I have said that 10 times already!). I can’t wait to meet new people, make new blogging friends, meet my favorite bloggers, and most of all learn all kinds of new things about DIY projects, décor, blogging, and so much more from some of the top home bloggers out there!
And you can be sure I will be sharing what I learn with you too!
Any of you going to Haven??? Can’t wait to meet you!! And any advice from anyone that has gone to a blogging conference?
And if you haven’t checked out some of the blogs I noted above – go check them out! But don’t blame me when you get hooked too!

It’s so fun to meet the people of the blogs you’ve been reading (I got to meet the Gypsy Mama recetnly who actually lives in my area!); I also got to meet a couple of authors to books I’ve read (having to do w/special needs etc). and it’s almost surreal! That’ll be neat to have Renee along–my sister went with me to one event and a friend to another.
My experiences were awesome and I came away realizing they are people just like me who were just as nice in “real life” as they came across in their blog! I always laugh at myself when I think, “Forget Hollywood stars, BLOGGERS (and/or authors) are my celebrities!” LOL! =) HAVE FUN and can’t wait to hear about your experience and ALL you learn! =)
