After I posted Monday’s post, I realized I had just posted my 100th post! That was was sort of fun for me and I wanted to celebrate with all of you! (Because it sure wouldn’t be fun to sit and write 100 posts if no one was reading them!)
And that might not seem like a big deal. BUT when I started this blog less than 6 months ago, 100 posts seemed just a bit daunting and I have accomplished it! 🙂
Just for those who maybe haven’t been around for all 100 posts here is a quick recap:
I published my first post on Sept. 28, 2011 almost exactly 5 months ago – Welcome to The Frugal Homemaker
Then, I jumped right in and joined Nester while writing for 31 days straight on “31 days to Decorate your Home on a Budget” I really enjoyed writing that series – so many ideas and inspiration links can be found there. You can find all 31 days of topics here.
One of my favorite posts in that series is the very last one – 10 tips to a beautiful home
I posted the top posts of 2011 here, so I won’t recap all of those.
And some of my favorite ones have been my seasonal mantels…
You can find those posts here – Fall mantel, Christmas mantel, Valentine’s mantel.
Now for the part you are really reading this post for…the giveaway! I posted a few times on facebook yesterday that I thought I might try to find 100 things to giveaway to a lucky reader to celebrate…
And I think I found the perfect thing – 100 dimes!
…that will be sent to you in the form of a $10.00 Goodwill gift card!
Isn’t that fun! What could make some fun find at Goodwill even better – having me pay for it! (By the way, whoever wins this gift card – you must email or post on my facebook wall what you get with it!)
So entering is pretty easy! Just follow the instructions on the widget below and answer the question about your favorite thrift store find (there a few more ways you can enter too for extra entries!) Giveaway will end at midnight on Monday, March 5th.
(If you are reading this post in an email or in a reader, you will need to click over to the post to enter the giveaway.)
Oh, and to my friends, family, and readers that have read all 100 posts – thank you! You guys are the best! And for those readers who have joined me along the way – I am so glad you are here! I am looking forward to sharing the next 100 posts with you…

I found two WWII Army trunks at a garage sale for $1 each. They have been nightstands, storage boxes, and now are coffee table and toy chest. They have been painted, but may get an update coat soon. I have had them since high school…I’ll be 30 this year (don’t tell!)
Christina says
wow, sounds great, Andrea!
Margie Visnick says
My favorite thrift store find had to be the decorative metal plates I found that matched the ones I already had in my LR-antiques,and gifted to me from my MIL-I know she paid a pretty penny for them! I got their mates @ Goodwill for about 4 bucks for 3 of them (they were even 1/2 off the day I went!)
Christina says
wow, love deals like that!

I found a Salad Master Electric Skillet at Goodwill for $18.00. I passed this along to one of my daughters because I already owed on. Was so happy to find this great deal!!!
Christina says
That is a great deal! and I am sure your daughter appreciated it 🙂

I think my best thrft store find would have to be my bookshelf that we have in our living room. It is tall and hardly has any scratches on it. I’m surprised it was still in the store considering the price!
Christina says
sounds like a good deal!

Yard sales are my favorite places to find good second hand goodies. I got a freezer from a facebook “yard sale” that I’m loving.
Christina says
yard sales are my favorite too! 🙂 I had a $20 yard sale freezer for 5 years – it served its purpose and price well. Oh, and when we finally did get rid of it – got $11 at the scrap yard for it. 🙂 $9 for 5 years – pretty good purchase 🙂

I found a definitely LIKE NEW very dressy dress that fit me perfectly, to wear to a grandson’s wedding! I spotted it on the rack of dresses at Goodwill but didn’t try it on that day. Talked with my daughter in law to make sure the color would be okay. Then went back to see if it was still there and IF it would fit my matronly figure. IT DID and cost under $10!!! A friend shortened it for me. I felt very elegant at the wedding.
Christina says
yay! that is a great and fun memory too

There are so many it is hard to choose, but the foyer table I found at GW in great shape for $18 is probably my top favorite. I plan to paint it one of these days, but right now it has a blue and white theme going on with all things thrifted or shopped from my home. Love your blog!
Christina says
sounds pretty! and a great deal!
Shelley says
I think I do better at yard sales?? lol I usually get skirts at the Goodwill. Thank you!!!
Christina says
I do better at yard sales too. BUT Goodwill is open 365 days a year, rain or shine and is organized so it is my second favorite 🙂

I found a great shelf (almost a grid style) at Goodwill for 2.99! It was a smaller version of a big shelf system my hubby built to house my collection of lighthouses. I like looking for housewares the most! 🙂
Christina says
I head straight to the houseware section 😉 then if I have time, I browse for clothes…
Marilyn says
I love buying the tshirts and making scarves out of them.
Christina says
would love to see some of them! do you have a blog where you have posted pictures?

I found a huge basket for $3 that holds extra throw blankets in a pretty way! I have enjoyed every post – keep them coming, Christina!! : )
Christina says
OOH, sounds fun! I have been looking for a large basket like that too 🙂

My favorite thrift store find has to be a very large picture frame (I haven’t measured it but it’s at least 16×20) thatI got for $1.99!!! I have plans to spray paint it and use as part of a wall photo gallery.=)
Christina says
ooooh, great deal Rachel! I got a huge one like that too (but it was half price for $7) I plan to put a wedding picture in it but first have to convert my wedding photo negatives into digital. Why does that make me feel so old (“when we got married, our wedding photos were on negatives – what are those?”) – ha!
Jean Harrington says
One of my favorite finds was an old brown bottle I now use in an arrangement of “beachy” things. The color was what I was looking for to add to the blues, greens and whites I already had.
Christina says
sounds fun!
Tabitha Duerr says
My favorite thrift store find was recently at Goodwill. I found a brand new Phil&Teds jogging stroller assembled in an unmarked brown box. I paid only $10!! It sells for $499 on their website. Major score!
Christina says
isn’t that amazing!
Sarah Hefner says
Oh dear, it is hard to think of just one. 🙂 I just recently found new in the box “power tools” toys for Judson. I am saving them for Christmas. They are so cute. Little drills, saws, safety glasses etc. He is going to love them.
Christina says
I know, Sarah! 🙂 yeah for Christmas gifts found at Goodwill. I gave a few of those myself this year, I just didn’t tell the recipient 😉
