This post sponsored by Home Decorators Collection. But styling and opinions are all mine!
I am so excited to kick off the Holiday Home Tour with Home Decorators Collection today along with several of my blogger friends. We will all be sharing parts of our holiday home with you throughout the week so make sure to check out the links at the bottom of this post. And there’s even a giveaway for TWO lucky readers to win a $250 gift card – check that out at the end too.
If you are finding me from the tour and new to my blog, my name is Christina and I love to decorate my home beautifully but on a yard sale budget. My husband and I moved into a new-to-us, fixer upper home this past year and had our precious baby girl 3 weeks later… So needless to say, we have had our hands full these last 6 months – with loads of home projects and snuggling a sweet baby girl too. But I couldn’t resist decorating our new home for Christmas! We did a TON of work outside this summer (you can see the literal jungle that we started with here, how it looks now, plus before/after pictures of our house before it was painted here) so the front porch was definitely ready for some pretty Christmas decor.
I loved this centered black front door from the first time we saw it. Our last home had a small front porch with the door at the end up next to a wall – so when I saw this centered front door, I was already imagining two entryway trees on either side of the door at Christmas. (You can shop the items I found at Home Decorators Collection by clicking on the picture below.)
My style is a bit of modern/rustic Farmhouse so I like to bring in lots of red and natural elements at Christmas and I especially love flocked or snowy looking greenery. That’s why I loved the Martha Stewart Snowy Dunhill Fir collection from Home Decorators– the greenery looks so natural and has a just a dusting of snow on it along with pinecones and other natural elements. I got 2 of the Martha Stewart Snowy Dunhill Fir Entrance trees and added lights and plugged them into a timer too.
The garland and wreath are pre-lit and on a battery operated timer – so no cords to hide and this mama is usually occupied with a busy baby in the evening and no time to remember to be turning on lights.
I LOVE candlelight outside at night so adding some lanterns at the edge of the porch was a perfect touch. These iron Ella lanterns come in a set of 3 and sort of have a galvanized look to them – perfect farmhouse style! I have real candles in them here but have some timer battery operated ones I will add later.
I just added a simple red bow on the top of both trees and a matching one on the wreath too.
Some empty boxes wrapped up like pretty presents are such a simple and inexpensive way bring in some more color and add more decor outdoors.
I loved this wood slice banner and draped it across the top of the door frame along with the greenery. Perfect way to greet our guests this holiday season.
I found the perfect pillows to help tie in my red and black farmhouse theme and I’ll share later this week how I made them (so easy and NO sewing machine involved!) They are flannel and soft and just look perfect in my black rocking chairs.
When we put our offer on this house I knew that I would want to add rocking chairs to the front porch. I stalked craigslist and yard sales all summer to no avail until finally in August I found 4 rocking chairs at 3 different yard sales! Two of them got a coat of black paint to all match and now I have my rocking chairs to complete my rocking chair front porch.
Paired with a small table and a set of lanterns (yard sale finds too!) and a wreath on the window, they add a cozy Christmas feel to my front porch.
I love to find evergreen trees in the yard or back in the woods and clip some branches to add here and there to my decor inside and outside – free and easy and so festive!
Perfect spot to sit and have a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.
We also had enough room to add a porch swing on one side of the porch and although I love my rocking chairs, I think the swing may be my very favorite. The baby and I go out there and sit and swing all the time – so peaceful and soothing!
The front of our house has come a long way from the day we bought it and I so am enjoying it finally looking and feeling more like home.
There’s just something about Christmas lights and decor and candlelight that makes it feel like home!
