What is probably the last room in the house that people think to decorate for Christmas? I know for most people, it is probably their bedroom! In fact the master bedroom sometimes seems to be the most neglected room period. But since I finally have a pretty bedroom after working on making it over this past year, I thought it would be the perfect room to focus on decorating this year.
So welcome to our romantic Christmas bedroom…
It all started when I headed a few towns over to an At Home store. We don’t have a store really close to us so I don’t get to go often. But I had been in to a store once or twice before and knew I could find some things there to help me give a room in my home a Christmas makeover. This is the scene that greeted me when I walked in the door – look at all that beautiful At Home Christmas Decor. I really loved that 3rd tree – a red/white/blue patriotic decorated Christmas tree.
They have an entire section of the store devoted to helping you find the right artificial tree – their “ Tree for Me” tree lot has over 101 varieties of Christmas Trees to choose from. And up and down the aisles you can find up to 15 themes of Christmas décor such as Seas & Greetings, Lavish and Luxe, Peppermint Jazz, Berry Platinum, Forest Fairy Tales, Crystal Chateau, Cherished Memories, Snowcapped Scene, a Handcrafted theme, and many more. You can pick a theme and choose everything from that theme or sort of mix and match which is what I did.
This pillow pretty much describes how I felt as I walked through the store.
Once I saw the “Santa” and “Mrs. Claus” pillows I knew I couldn’t leave without them and my room was going to get a Christmas makeover! Aren’t those just adorable?!
Before you knew it my cart looked like this. Definitely not hard at all to do at an At Home store with their everyday low prices. I had a hard time deciding in between all the ornaments and pretty décor – I really did just want it all.
I couldn’t wait to see what everything would look like in our room.
I knew the room wouldn’t be complete without adding a Christmas tree so I picked up this 4 foot white pre-lit tree, a mini tree skirt, some ornaments, and a pretty star for the top while I was At Home too. They had a large selection of small trees and accessories too. Oh and that Merry and Bright pillow came home with me too. I love to sit in this spot in the morning and drink my coffee and read my devotional for the day.
A few more Christmas touches added around the room and it was perfect! This is one of the reasons I love having a neutral bedroom with lots of gray and white because mixing in red during Christmas or adding another accent color works perfectly.
I created the backdrop behind the bed with a spare curtain rod I had, a thrifted pair of curtain panels, and a simple garland and wreath from my Christmas bins. I just hung 2 strands of white lights from the rod and then draped the curtain tabs over the rod and pinned them in place. At night this becomes so magical! It may stay up for a long time after Christmas I am thinking at least through winter…
Some Christmas music and a fireplace scene on tv makes it seem like I even have a fireplace in here. We have both loved how cozy this has made our room this year.
Red and gray and white go beautifully together.
The mistletoe sign came from At Home too – I thought it was a perfect fun touch to add to our bedroom door layered over the wreath.
Even our sweet little kitty enjoys napping in here…
So are you inspired yet? Go add some Christmas touches to a neglected room in your home. Which At Home Christmas decorative theme would you choose? Or what room in your home could use some Christmas décor this year?

Your bedroom is beautiful. I love how you added a Christmas touch but didn’t go overboard. The lights behind the bed adds coziness to the room and I would keep those up after Christmas. I really like how the gray and white really pop. Great job.
