Your guide to turning your house into a home... one DIY project and yard sale find at a time

Spray painted yard sale stool and metal décor piece for guest bedroom

July 3, 2015

I should have proclaimed this “Rustoleum spruces up my guest bedroom” week. Smile  Instead of my normal Friday Faves + Frugal Finds post, I am going to to show you some recent yard sale finds I gave a spray paint makeover for my guest bedroom.  You can see the spray painted mirror I shared earlier this week here.

Remember this wicker stool and metal décor piece I got a few weeks back at a yard sale?  The metal piece was $2.00 and the wicker stool was $1.00.

I couldn’t believe when she said the wicker stool was only $1.00 – I snatched it up quick!  I am in love with these little stools in all shapes, sizes, and forms.  I look for them wherever I go – they make great accent pieces, side tables, nightstands and more and can even be used outside or inside.

Even though the green was super ugly, I knew a simple coat of spray paint could fix that easily.

Here they are in my “spray paint booth” outside Winking smile.

I used Rust-oleum Painter’s Touch Ultra Cover 2x Gloss spray in white.   This has become my favorite go-to brand and type of spray paint.

And here they are in my guest bedroom.  I have the stool beside the bed for now.    Looks SOO much better and so different in white!

I distressed the metal piece just like I did my spray painted yard sale mirror.  And then hung it over the window in between the curtains.

I will be sharing all the details in this whole room soon – you won’t believe the before/after of the paint in here!  I still need to paint some furniture, paint and install the new yard sale headboard I just got, and do some final decorating.  But I am super happy with how it has changed over the last few months.

I used this same paint for my weathered rocking chairs on my front porch. They are beautiful now.

A little paint can do wonders! I really like the metal piece hanging above the window, it looks like it was meant to be there!

It looks beautiful now! I clearly need to hit up some garage sales and find some “rusty gold” for myself 🙂
