DIY pretty Bobby pins

DIY pretty Bobby Pins

Thought I would share a little craft/fashion project I did recently.  I needed some new pretty bobby pins to wear in my hair so I took a trip back down the scrapbook aisle at Hobby Lobby.

Back during my 31 days of Pinterest project series I showed you some bobby pins I made with some simple scrapbook embellishments.

I still wear those but some have gotten lost over time and I really wanted some fancier ones for summer.

Here’s the supplies I picked up – they were al $1.99 but 50% off and the bobby pins were $2.99/18 but also 50% off.  I also browsed the button aisle – those black, red, white flowers are actually buttons!

See the little button loop on the back?

I was able to take a needle nose plier and pull that plastic loop right off.  You really want a nice flat back to be able to glue these to a bobby pin.

I just use hot glue – but you could use super glue or any other kind of super hard glue.  One dot on the back of the button or embellishment – then attach the bobby pin.

I had a few of these plain bobby pins

And glued the little rhinestone embellishments down the whole length for a different look.

Here’s all my pretty bobby pins all finished!  Took me less than 10 minutes to do all of these.

These fancy metal ones are one of my favorites.

And I love these colored ones to wear to accent/match what I am wearing.

I am about to head out for Haven conference – a DIY/blogging conference held here in Atlanta so I am sure you will be seeing some pictures and updates from there.  Can’t wait to hang out with some of my friends and favorite bloggers and learn all kinds of new things.  Going to be a wonderful weekend.

Oh, and if are going to be there too – just look for me.  I will be the girl wearing buttons and scrapbook embellishments in my hair, and jewelry and shoes from the thrift store.  Winking smile Gotta dress my brand – The FRUGAL Homemaker! 🙂

Make sure to come back tomorrow to check out my frugal finds I found last week too.
