Your guide to turning your house into a home... one DIY project and yard sale find at a time

Friday Frugal Finds: glassware finds

March 15, 2013

Excited to share some Friday Frugal Finds with you today.

I stopped at a yard sale and found some really pretty glassware which I love.

At first I only picked up this pretty milk glass bowl.  It is BIG, like you could serve a fruit salad or something in it, so $3.00 was a great deal!  I had actually been wanting a larger milk glass bowl like this.  Next on my list to find is a milk glass cake plate.

When I went to pay for it, they directed me to some more boxes in their garage that had some vintage glassware.

This Fenton bee box is a very popular piece – the black one sells for $40 on ebay and other colors sell for even more.  I bought it for $8.00.  I don’t normally buy and resell pieces but one day when I get my house all decorated and have some extra things, I could easily sell some things and make a some cash.

And I loved this turquoise candy dish for $4.00.    I think it is vintage carnival glass.

That was my finds from last week.  Have you shopped any yard sales yet?  It is supposed to be 70 degrees today and 75 on Sunday so I am sure they will be popping up everywhere!

Great finds! I love yard sales and spotted a yard sale sign just a few minutes ago on the way to the store. Maybe I’ll stop and see what treasures I can find…

I love your blue candy dish! It is carnival glass – I have a collection of some pieces that belonged to my grandmother. I’ve found some great thrift store finds lately, but not too many yard sales in our area – it’s too cold!
    Enjoy the weekend,

My eyes got big on the second one. My sister calls those honey pots. Great price! I’m sure they ou could get more. I have too much milk glass now. Plates are hard to find. Martha used them for wall sconces with candles behind once and it was gorg. Been keeping my eye out ever since.

It is difficult to be frugal when I see your posts and then jump on ebay to duplicate your purchases !!!

What beautiful items! That bee dish, particularly, is to die for. I envy you your finds, and your weather! We’ve still got tons of snow here and below freezing temperatures, but at least this afternoon the sun has come out and it sure is bright in here right now. Yearning for spring! By the way, I first found you when I stumbled across your post on how to make home-make plate hangers. I am going to try it on some plates I bought; well, I suppose I should try it on a not so pretty plate first, to make sure it holds. Yours have, so I’m encouraged.

That “bee box” is not Fenton. It is Tiara. I happen to collect it. Otherwise I’d have had no idea! 🙂
