Today I am going to share our front porch decorated for Christmas. It is nothing elaborate and I wish I could do more or do it differently but it is more than I have done before and I love the little touches that I added this year. Here it is in the daytime – but it is much prettier at night!
If you have been following my blog you may remember that I did a little makeover on my porch in the spring. I added the bench and that has made a huge difference in making my porch feel more “homey”.
For Christmas I always put the wreaths on the windows, and wrap garland around the poles and draped it along the banister. It is all lit too. Last year I draped some extra greenery that my MIL gave me over the door and I liked that there.
I added a throw (from the Better Homes and Gardens line at Walmart on sale on Black Friday) on the bench and kept one of my envelope pillow covers pillows out there.
If you follow me on facebook you know where the “Let it Snow” snowmen pillow came from. It is another placemat pillow – I found the placemat at Kohl’s.
I changed out the wire wall hanging with a chalkboard for Christmas and I really LOVE having a chalkboard there. I may have to make it a permanent addition.
I showed you how I made my faux evergreen wreath in this post.
And the added presents give a nice touch too. I would love to find a small tree to put out there – maybe on clearance after Christmas this year?
Now for the pretty night tour!
My absolute favorite part is those lanterns that I hung from the hooks I usually have ferns on during the summer. And I found LED, battey-operated candles that operate on a timer at Wal-mart for $3.00 each. So they automatically come on when the lights do around dusk and then turn off after 5 hours. LOVE coming home to candlelight.
So there is my Christmas front porch! I envy those of you that have a centered door and could put 2 of those porch trees on either side of your door or have stairs leading up to your front door where you could put candles in mason jars or lanterns going up the stairs. 🙂 But I have done the best I can with our little porch and we have enjoyed it this Christmas.
How do you decorate outside for Christmas? Do you have big blow-up Christmas decorations in your yard? Icicle lights? Or maybe just a pretty wreath on your front door?

Oh, it’s sooooo lovely and inviting. Could you please come to my house?!! I have a (homemade mesh) wreath on my door. I think that’s all that’s going to happen with my work schedule the year. 🙁

The porch looks wonderful! The wreath on your front door is my favourite because you added the berries which I love for this time of year.

Your porch looks beautiful Christina!! I love that chalkboard, the placemat pillow on your bench, & your wreaths hanging on the windows. We wanted to add wreaths to our windows this year, but never got around to it! Oh well…maybe next year! 🙂

Hi Christina…… I’m a new follower to your blog and believe me, I find your home gorgeous!!!
Your porch is most welcoming and gives the serene, peaceful and warm sense that makes one feel cozy and brings back loving memories of returning home.
I especially like the sharing of how easy it is to decorate frugally…… The money saved allows for more decorating.
Looking forward to following your ventures.

No need at all for you to envy anyone else’s front porch….. yours is beautiful and understated, and it gave me a couple of ideas I’d like to use. Merry Christmas!

I love how many lights you have on your porch! The combination of Christmas lights and lanterns both on the floor and hanging from the ceiling adds a lot of charm. Using electronic candles for the lanterns is great too, since you don’t have to worry about fire hazards or the candles burning out. I want to try something like this next holiday season. Thanks for the inspiration!

Your home is absolutely beautiful!!! I love garland around the front door, but I struggle hanging it. My house is covered with vinyl siding. Please share how you fastened garland around your door. My husband doesn’t want me to use nails. I’ve tried office binder clips, but they will pop off.
Thank you so much.

If it is mentioned, forgive me 🙂 What size are the lanterns? I love your porch!! I am finally starting to enjoy decorating and thought I’d get a jump on purchasing stuff.
Thanks!
