This post sponsored by Joann but all opinions expressed and hot cocoa drinking is done by me!
I don’t know about you but when the weather gets colds the kids start asking for hot cocoa…so what better way to celebrate the season and enjoy some family time at home then set up a hot cocoa bar! It’s easier than you think and I’ll show you how.
I headed to my local Joann store and picked up some fun Christmas decor and supplies for the hot cocoa bar along with a blank wood sign that I could use to create a custom DIY wood sign for our hot cocoa bar.
Joann has these blank signs already made for you which makes it so easy to make a custom sign in just minutes! I designed a saying in a font I liked and printed it out. Here’s the link so you can print the Hot Cocoa Bar text to create your own sign – it’s sized to fit a 6×10 sign. The other supplies you’ll need is just a pencil and a paint pen.
You could use carbon paper to do this but I find this method works just as well and it’s free and easy! Just scribble on the of the paper where the words are with your pencil, then flip it over and place it where you want it on the sign, and trace the outline of the text.
It creates just enough of an outline for you to see to trace!
Then just color in the outline with your paint marker. The best part of this is how custom you can make it! Use a red marker to have red writing, use whatever saying and text design, or even a clip art image to customize it how you want it!
Then it was time to take my sign and the rest of my supplies and set up a cocoa bar! I have this buffet in our dining room that is the perfect spot for it. So here’s the before…
And here’s the after!
I loved that little gnome mug with the top and he will be fun to fill with hot chocolate.. and the fun wood and bottle brush trees add just the right festive touch.
I added those fun new mugs to my mug rack!
Those fun ornament shaped sprinkle filled jars are so fun too! Sprinkles on hot cocoa just add even more joy!
Just the hot cocoa fixings are so festive themselves! I love when I can find these old fashioned peppermint sticks – they are perfect for stirring your hot cocoa and adding peppermint flavor.
Oh and that lighted pom pom garland is so fun too! It’s battery operated and on a timer which is my favorite to add lights in places where you don’t want cords and don’t have to remember to turn it on and off each night.
We are ready for some hot cocoa and Christmas movies and games and making memories together as a family this season!
Take a few minutes to festive hot cocoa bar for your family this year! You can use a corner on your counter or a set it up on a tray someplace else. It will make a fun space with new memories and traditions to make this year.
Ours will be getting lots of use this year by young and old.
