So you know I couldn’t keep my front door naked for long! It looks so weird to me to not have something up there. And since I can FINALLY use any color I want on my black door instead of colors like red looking horrible on my burgundy door, I couldn’t wait to create a new colorful summer wreath. I was excited to use red for the first time and thought mixing it with yellow and whites would be a great mix for the summer.
So I picked up the above bunches of flowers at Michael’s on their Memorial Day sale – they were 50% plus I got an additional 25% off so I paid around $10 for all of them. I also added a white bunch of flowers from my stash while I was making it because I found it I needed some other larger flowers and some more white.
I have done a step by step tutorial on making your own grapevine floral wreath here. But basically you cut off each smaller stem of flowers off the bush and begin placing them around the wreath. Larger focal flowers first, then fill in with smaller flowers.
When I got done with the flowers, I decided I wanted to add some more texture and color with a burlap bow, so I removed a few flowers and made this burlap bow to go there. I LOVE, love, love it on my black door!!
Next year when I plant flowers in pots I will probably add even more reds and yellows as I really love those colors and want more on my porch!
I will be hanging my wreaths with a wreath hangar now since the magnet wreath holder I had been using does damage to the paint. I already had this pretty oil rubbed bronze one that I got several years ago at Kirklands.
I love the little butterfly that was included on one of the stems of the flowers. So pretty!
Still loving my black door. This wreath would have never had looked good on my previous burgundy door.
Can’t wait to show you the whole house with my black shutters and my porch decorated for summer! Posts coming soon!
