Yellow and blue Spring/Easter mantel

March 13, 2013

Spring/Easter Mantel

So excited to start sharing some spring things with you!  First up is my spring mantel.  Come March 1st (sometimes before depending on if the weather is cooperating), I am ready for all things SPRING!  This year we have had some cooler temps here in GA into March but have also had a few days here and there with 60+ temps too.  Today is a little cooler but supposed to be 70 this weekend.  Crossing my fingers today is the last very cool day and the 60’s and 70’s are here to stay!  I am itching to get some work done in the yard!

This year’s mantel sort of took on a blue/teal and yellow theme with a bunch of pastels too.

And of course I used things I already had or have used in the past, like the Spring pendant banner that I made last year for my Spring mantel.

Spring/Easter Mantel

I try to mix in a little Spring and Easter, but Easter décor is sort of lacking in stores.  I need to make some things I have pinned that would fit the Easter theme perfectly but it always seems to sneak up on me and they aren’t done.

Yes, I think this rustic white bench has become a permanent fixture!  And for $2.00 at a estate sale and a fresh coat of white paint, I have sure enjoyed it!    Maybe once I get chair and ottoman over in that corner of the living room, I won’t use it anymore, but for now I LOVE the cozy feel that it brings.

The basket of flowers is something I did quite a few years ago.  We have a lady in our church that makes gorgeous flower arrangements and she did baskets like these for our entry tables and front table at church and I loved it!  So I painted a basket white from my stash and picked up some various spring flowers from Michael’s and created my own.  Love the colors that it brings into our living room!

The yellow throw is a vintage throw that I picked up at a yard sale for $1.00 I think.  And the garden gnome was a clearance find that will probably move outside once things warm up.

On this side of the heart I just used a houseplant that I brought down from upstairs and a little bird and an Ikea lantern.

I love these little birds – Michael’s usually has them in all shapes, sizes and colors for just a few dollars on sale‘

The Easter egg wreath was a clearance find from after Easter last year that I was excited to bring out of storage and use.  When I brought down the window and the wreath, I LOVED how it picked up the teal/blue in the window in the blue eggs on the wreath.

So there is my Spring mantel!  It will be here to stay until the beginning of May or so when I switch out to red/white/blue theme.  This year would have been the perfect year to do an Easter mantel in March and a Spring mantel in April but I didn’t have much Easter themed things to use.

Spring/Easter Mantel

How about you?  Do you decorate for Spring and Easter separately or at the same time?    Have you started working in the yard yet?  I plan to get started on that by the end of this week – can’t wait!

Love the Spring Mantle – especially the Easter Egg Wreath and the blue window!! They go great together! This year I decorated a “semi-Spring” mantle (because I was ready to take down the Valentine one) and now I’ve done an Easter Mantle. Since Easter comes so early this year, I may take away the Easter things and revert it back to just a Spring mantle once Easter has passed. I agree with you, the stores seem to be lacking in Easter decor this year….and so have the thrift stores!
    Thanks for sharing!

I love love love your living room! I look at it often and wonder what is the paint color. It is the perfect color to go with all the different seasonal decor. I would be thrilled if you could share;)

Love the entire look and that you combined Easter and spring decor. Is that an olive topiary on the mantel? Where did you find/purchase it? I’ve been searching online and in stores and can’t find anything that size.
