Simplify…Linen closet

February 2, 2012

simplify button

So I am back sharing another area I have purged, cleaned, and straightened up as part of our simplify project.

This time it is the linen closet.  And again I have a confession to make.  I don’t use my linen closet for linens as much as I use it for my health and beauty stockpile. Smile  But I don’t ever pay full price (sometimes I don’t pay anything!) for shampoo, toothpaste, shaving cream, lotions, hairspray and much more so it is worth it! Winking smile

I honestly don’t need much linen storage because:

  • master bath towels are stored under sink in master bath
  • guest bath towels are stored under sink in guest bath
  • I only have 1 pair of sheets for each bed and they are on each bed, washed, and put back on each time I wash them
  • I store tablecloths, placemats, and kitchen towels in a drawer in the kitchen

So here is my non-linen/coupon stockpile closet. Smile

It definitely needed some purging, re-arranging and straightening.

I cleaned out each shelf, threw some stuff away, added some organizers and baskets, and moved some things to the bathroom cabinets.

I needed storage for my candles so I put them in this little storage caddy.  And added a basket on the side for my stash of soaps and lotions.

This is my favorite shelf! Smile  I wish the whole closet could look like this but we are going for functionality not beauty…

The little basket is what I call my “guest basket.”  When we have company, I can pull it out and put in the guest bath.  It contains a set of towels and all kinds of toiletries one might need.  Free samples and coupon deals are great for this!  Little tubes of toothpaste, an extra toothbrush, little samples of lotion, shampoo, body wash, and more.

So there is my before and after!  And another box to add to my yard sale pile – yay!

I am off to conquer another closet – how about you?
