Your guide to turning your house into a home... one DIY project and yard sale find at a time

Easy Succulent Garden (in a milkglass dish)

June 30, 2013

I love adding live plants to my home.  Love the color and decoration that they bring and also love that they are good for you in purifying the air.

So when I saw these succulents on clearance at Wal-mart, I snatched them up.  Succulents are very popular right now and I have been wanting to add some to my house.

I chose this milkglass dish that was one of my yard sale finds (picked up for $1 or less).

Added some small rocks for drainage in the bottom, some soil. and the 3 plants.  3 minute project!

Mi-summer always leaves me longing for the beach, so I added some shells and starfish with my little succulent garden and a white lantern to a wicker tray I have on my coffee table.

I love the succulents matched together with the shells – they just work perfectly together.

Cute little guys!  Hoping I can keep them alive and growing!

I too have decorated my bathroom with a beach theme. Love the colors and shells. I not really successful with plants of any kind. I do have a holiday cactus that I inherited from my mother in law. It has been in the family over 100 years! Still have it alive after 3 years…but it’s never bloomed. Let me know what I’m doing wrong!

Move it to a room where it gets more sun. Doesn’t have to be direct, but they like the light! πŸ™‚

The milk glass looks great with the succulent! Anyone growing succulents should bear in mind that they need soil that drains well, such as potting soil mixed with sand. πŸ™‚

I love this! But I am like the black widow of succulents. I am a serial house plant killer. Isn’t that sad?! Perhaps I’ll try again. Gonna keep my eyes peeled for succulents on clearance!
