Hi everyone! I have been working on editing pictures and writing some posts last week and over the weekend so I hope to have lots to share with you in the coming days. First I wanted to go back and finish off posting about rooms in our previous home. I want to compile before/during/after pictures and share pictures from the day we moved in and the day we moved out. Inspiration for me and I hope you too and a chance to preserve some memories too. And I will probably mix in some current things I am working on too if baby naps long enough for me to get those photographed and written!
This was our guest bedroom at the old house. I don’t think I ever shared a full shot of this room as I never felt like it was finished. But as I sit staring at rooms that aren’t even started in our new house it sure looks pretty finished to me. All about perspective.
Here’s the other side of the room with a peek into the closet. My nieces also used this room while they were here and the closet was used for toy and clothes storage.
I had planned to eventually change out the light fixture with either a ceiling fan (because GA summer heat!) or possibly a pretty fixture but that didn’t get done before we moved.
I did do a lot in this room though in the last year we were in this house. It got completely repainted (the color is Gateway Gray by Behr Marquee), I painted my childhood dresser white, found a metal headboard at a yard sale and painted it white, and painted a yardsale nightstand. I also found and added lots more thrifted and yard sale decor too like the white stool by the bed, the $5 bench, and the $2 white metal piece over the window.
The mirror also got a makeover too.
I enjoyed this room and it was a comfortable space to host guests which we did a few times a year.
The white bedding is from IKEA and the pillows are all thrifted or yard sale finds. The white metal piece came from Kohls and I just love it!
I loved the gray and white and yellow together but that will probably change in our new house as the guest room situation will be completely different.
That cute little nightstand was a part of my bedroom set of yard sale furniture but it didn’t work in our room and was perfect size for this space. My spray painted thrift store brass lamps got moved from my entryway when it was rearranged and used in here – still love those!
The closet in here was amazing! It was a small walk in closet so I used one side of it for clothes/toys and storage and the corner got used as a reading nook and play area for my nieces and nephew. They loved playing in the closet.
So just for fun here’s this room the day we closed on this house…
Sometime after we had lived there for a year or so and my first decorating attempt… (don’t laugh – I blame it on the lack of Pinterest 😉
And the final after.
And then the day we moved, I took pictures of all the empty rooms. Even the empty after looks better than the before.
I am missing my previous home but also looking forward to getting this current house worked on so that it feels more like home to us. A post on another room in our last house coming on Wednesday!
