Friday Faves + Frugal Finds: fun finds at Goodwill

It’s almost getting too hot for yard sales here in south – we have had temperatures reaching almost to 100 degrees and heat index way above 100!  It’s hot!  So this week after I dropped my nieces and nephew off at Vacation Bible School I was glad to pop in a nice Goodwill I don’t get to go to often and enjoy their air conditioner while I searched for treasures.  This Goodwill didn’t disappoint either!  If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you probably saw sneak peek at some of my fun finds.

I have had lamp shades on my list for a while.  I have found several thrift store or Goodwill lamps but needed shades to go with them.  I love drum shades but they are so expensive in the store – usually $20 or more – and I have a lot of other things on my list I would rather spend my $40 on.  I will be honest the lamp shade selection at Goodwill is usually quite sad with outdated, ugly, and torn up shades.  So I was excited to find these gray drum shades in perfect condition for $2.92 each.

I also found a pair of new brown dress shoes 1/2 off for $2.50, a game for $1.51.

And I seriously had to laugh a little when I saw this purse because it was SOOO perfect!

This is a Thirty One crossbody purse and I love Thirty One products.  And to top it all of it was mongrommed with a “C” (my name is Christina Winking smile) and done in GRAY thread – could not have been more perfect if I ordered it myself.  It was $4.94 (Goodwill’s standard price for purses) which isn’t an amazingly cheap price but for a Thirty One purse that is a GREAT deal.

There are many times that I stop in Goodwill and don’t find anything or only find 1 thing – so times like this are fun!

What have you found recently?  Too hot for yard sales or perfect weather?

You did great with your finds. I recently went to one of our thrift stores and located several silver pieces (vase, candle holders) wicker basket which I just finished working on. I spent 16.00 that day but enjoy the results on most of them. Love to see your finds. Thanks for sharing.

You did good!!! Have you tried the Salvation Army Surplus Store? I like to give them a try and find their prices much better, but of course, I live in a different part of the country.

  4. That purse is absolutely perfect for you! I stopped at a Goodwill store on Thurs. that i seldom go to and found a solid oak end table with a glass top and one drawer. It looked like a good candidate for me to try refinishing. I pulled the drawer out and it said “Thomasville” on the side! I said SOLD! For $8 I can’t go wrong!

  5. Great finds especially the purse!

  6. great finds!! You have inspired me to shop yard sales and thrifts to redecorate my home!! I have found some really nice things here lately!! I find it to be a game now! Why pay full price for stuff?? ????
