Today I am excited to have Christa from Brown Sugar Toast guest posting on an organizational project she just did in her home. I think you will enjoy it and you may even think of some other things you could organize using her same method.

For the past couple months, I’ve been working to organize my home. I feel like every area of my home needs an overhaul so I can do things more efficiently. {Perhaps it was motivated by the birth of my 3rd child & the busy-ness that creates!} All in all, it’s been a very good thing & my family is definitely benefiting from it!
One of the areas that really stumped me was my spices. I had seen plenty of ideas on how to organize them with baby food jars, Starbucks bottles, or special shelves. But there were 2 problems with these methods:
1) I didn’t want to buy lots of jars/bottles.
2) I didn’t have a lot of space in my pantry for shelves.
So one day while I was perusing my pantry, inspiration struck. I present to you my new + organized spices:
Hello, shoe holder! Where have you been all my life?!
My very thoughtful husband heard me mention this idea & stuffed this shoe holder in my Christmas stocking. I was so geekily excited about getting my spices organized that I worked on it that very afternoon.
I decided to alphabetize my spices to make them easier to find. At first, I thought maybe I was going way overboard with this step, but it has proved to be very helpful when grabbing ingredients for cooking!
See how perfectly my different bottles fit into the pockets? You can even spy my homemade taco seasoning below:
Thanks so much, Christina, for having me over! Happy organizing!

Oh yes, this is a great thing to do. I have been using clear shoe hangers to store all the little items in my food storage for years. It is great for behind the bathroom door to store bath items like extra toilet paper, toothpaste/toothbrushes and shampoos. I even have one in my office closet for all my desk needs (tape, glue, markers. staples, pens & pencils). Love your post, keep them coming I love them…thanks…MILLIE

I love this! I don’t need to do spices yet, since I don’t have so many – but I have a couple of these shoe holders and I think one would work great on the back of my utility room door to hold anything and everything! I think I’ll hang it with a couple command hooks. Of course, I should use them in my bedroom closets with the same command hooks. I never hung them when I bought the house for fear of marking the doors up at the top. I’m going to get them out and put them to use one way or another!

Now that is a neat idea! I’ve seen the shoe holders used for a lot of different things, but this is the first time I’ve seen it used as a spice holder.

I use a show holder for my bathroom tools! It’s a great organizer for any kind of things! I like your way of using it!
