Your guide to turning your house into a home... one DIY project and yard sale find at a time

Friday Frugal Finds: dresses and baskets

April 19, 2013

Back with another entry in my Friday Frugal Finds series where I share some yard sale, thrift store, or clearance finds with you.

I stopped in Value Village this week and was so glad I did!  I found some great stuff!  And I have 1/2 price day to look forward to there this week.

First I browsed the home décor and housewares section and found these really nice baskets for $2.02 each!  That was great price for a basket with a really nice liner and another nice tray type basket.  And I have already put both of these to use in my home.  I don’t think I can have enough baskets – I am all about organizing!  I do much better keeping the house clean when things have a place.

And then I had a little extra time so I browsed through the ladies clothes.  I have lost some weight recently (not for a good reason, unfortunately) but I am definitely not complaining about the weight loss!  So I am in need of some new, smaller clothes for summer.

I found 2 really pretty dresses, that I LOVE!

This one was $4.49

And this one was $7.49

2 dresses for under $12 – can’t beat that!

Have you found anything good recently at thrift stores or yard sales?

(Don’t forget to go enter to win the $25 American Express gift card I posted about yesterday!)

Love your second dress!! Would be so pretty sleeveless or with a shrug. I have found several dresses second hand lately and I just love them!! It’s taken me awhile to find my dress style, but I think I have. 🙂 Great finds!

Very cute dresses, Christina! It is so hard to find cute dresses, so when I can find a bargain on cute dresses that excites me even more! Our thrift store ran a any 5 for $5 last month, and I got some nice skirts and tops them – Petite Sophisticate and Ann Klein, none the less!

Great finds! Cute dresses, too! I tried to find a garage sale this morning, but the signs ended and I couldn’t find the sale, much to my disappointment. It’s still a little cool here for many sales, but hope they start picking up soon. My latest finds have been a purse and a sweater. Both which I love!

I love thrift stores! Love those baskets too 🙂 I found a Value Village about 45 minutes away, not too far from my favourite Goodwill store. So, I guess I know what I’ll be doing tomorrow. I did find a cute little denim skirt at a thrift store close to home and when I found out the label was a high end clothing label I was quite happy with my find. I will say this though – some of these high end labels tend to have a different sizing system so it does pay to know that if you wear a size 4 in most everything you buy, it might not equate to the same size in those high end labels. The skirt is still a great buy (even if it’s too big on me) and I’ll just take my sewing machine and take it in!

I love your posts, esp. your Thrifting Adventures. In NE, Value Village is known as SAVERS. I have made some great plus size scores recently, including cashmere sweaters – – yes plural cashmere – – as well as nice slacks from Talbots brand, along with some great Ralph Lauren tops, all appropriate for business casual office. they typically have some great housewares. just found a Longeberger basket for $2.99!!!!

Alright, I have to find a Value Village! You got some amazing deals Christina! I love the dresses, my jaw actually dropped when I read the price for both of them. Total SCORE! I also feel you can’t have too many baskets.
