I am participating in a project over at My 3 Boybarians called Project52 (P52) which stands for “1 photo each week for a year.” There is an assigned theme each week and I try to take the best photo I can related to that theme. Here is my attempt this week!
I am really starting to enjoy this photo project. The first few weeks were discouraging for me (the themes and how I could portray them in our life), but once I posted the pictures I took, everyone was so encouraging and complimentary so it gave me the confidence to keep going. Then after last week of almost not doing it and getting some super great shots and having a blast with it, I am so excited to keep doing this project!
My hubby and I went on a long weekend trip this past weekend. We met up with some friends in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and had such a great time together! Yummy food, fun thrifty finds (more on that later!), games, movies, shopping, crafts, mini golf – such a fun time! As we were driving home through the mountains yesterday enjoying the scenery, I was thinking over my to-do list for the rest of the week once we “rejoined life” at home
And what I would do for my photo this week – shadows.
Hubby had asked if I wanted stop at the top and take pictures, but I wasn’t feeling well and we were ready to get home so we opted to just keep driving. Then it hit me – SHADOWS!! Shadows in the mountains, in the trees, on the road – they were all around! So of course then we had to stop so I could get my picture for this week
And of course I didn’t take just one
Even though this is not the prettiest time of year, everything is brown and not much color, the mountains seem to be pretty any time of year….
Can’t help to think of the valleys and mountaintops in life when I look at these pictures.
Even though you might be in the valley, look at the beautiful rolling mountains around you. It takes the mountaintops AND the valleys to make this beautiful scene. Just like in our life: when we look back at the valleys we have traveled through we realize those experiences made us who we are and made the mountaintop experiences in life much more beautiful and enjoyable!
And this one brings to mind this verse– "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” Psalms 19:1
As we drove through Cherokee we saw these elk on the side of the road! Everyone was stopping to take pictures.
Turns out that they are actually wild elk, re-introduced to the Smoky Mountain park about 10 years ago. And the herd is growing and thriving there in the Appalachian area again. There were probably 10 or more females grazing on the other side of the road too. But everyone was fascinated by these males which were sort of sparing at each other with their antlers.
Thankful for a fun weekend away with my hubby! And grateful that I have someone to hold my hand and walk with me on the mountaintops and through the valleys in life!
Take any fun pictures this week?
